In Tandem is a wonderful, enlightening read that correlates tandem cycling to relationships and more. Every step of the way, Jay had me evaluating my own past and present relationships and personality traits. Not just a must read for cyclists, everyone will benefit from this introspective view of our interaction with our significant others, ourselves, and some of the best strategies to create a successful team of two.
There is no love story better than one that takes place on two wheels. I might be slightly biased since my job is writing about cycling and I met my husband at a bike race, but even without that, this story of growth and finding love later in life is incredibly inspiring. Jay’s writing and his love story with Szifra will motivate you to take a ride on a bicycle built for two… or just makes you think a bit deeper about the nuances of real relationships.

“I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful, moving, and funny tale of a resilient, dynamic duo…so tenderly and delicately handcrafted.” – Louise Baribeau, Retired Mental Health Professional, Newburyport, MA
“I read your book. You can write. I don’t think it’s a bestseller, but I enjoyed it.”
“ It is really a fun read. I like the writing. I like the insights.”
“I think you did a good job navigating the third ex material. No lawyer needed. :-)”.
“Throughout the story, Jay and Szifra dissect, discuss, and digest everything, from a snarky remark to a perceived slight. This was not just open communication; they genuinely care about what their spouse thought!” ~ Roz Birke, Married once, for almost 50 years. Loves living on her own for 11 months each year.
It was fascinating to read the experiences, decision processes, challenges, and triumphs, from the other side of the counter. Jay’s book really sums up the technical side of tandems. While everyone’s personal experience learning to ride and work together on a tandem may be unique, the physical and mechanical side is pretty consistent. Great job and it makes me proud to be Jay and Szifra’s tandem builder.
